Went to New Malaysia with friends a few times and I tried some of their other dishes which were just as delicious.

NYC - Chinatown - New Malaysia Restaurant and Midtown - LunchBox
It's been awhile since Anne and I had a meal at New Malaysia Restaurant together so we made our way there and had a delicious lunch today. We had the Curry Beef Brisket and Pork & Asparagus in Belacan sauce which was delicious! The portions were surprisingly big and for once we couldn't finish our food ... hahaha!
After pigging out
, we walked around Chinatown then proceeded
to 34st in midtown Manhattan for more shopping and ended up at Lunchbox Buffet for dinner which was good, big portion and cheap for only $5!

NYC - Chinatown - New Malaysian Restaurant
I was dowtown Chinatown running some errands after which I went to have my lunch at New Malaysia Restaurant at Chinatown since I haven't been there for awhile. I had the nasi lemak and being a greedy piggy, I ordered the Beancurd with Satay Sauce which of course I couldn't finish and had to have it packed to go, it was good though ... hee hee.

NYC - Chinatown - Singapore Cafe
It's been ages since I been back to Singapore Cafe, used to be a fave for hubby and I when I first moved to NY from Singapore, unfortunately after they changed management, the food started getting lousy
and the pricing went up. Once I even saw them run after some customers because they didn't leave enough tips, how lame can they be, I was totally disgusted with that action.
The only plus for them is that they open till quite late compared to the other Malaysian restaurants, that's the only good thing I can say about them.

NYC - 118 Bagus Malaysia Restaurant

Friends who knows me, knows that I can be quite diplomatic when it comes to food, when the taste is out a little, I would still be nice about it and say 'It's ok lah'. I am always game to try new Malaysian restaurants in New York City especially those in Chinatown and I have to say New Malaysia Restaurant is still my all-time favourite.
Today I went to check out 118 Bagus Malaysia Restaurant after hearing and reading good reviews about their food, I have to say it was the worse I have tried in NYC so far, the Hainanese chicken rice 海南鸡饭 was tasteless 没有味道, the chilli sauce was too sweet and not spicy 不辣 at all. The roti canai was too chewy like it was not cooked properly and the curry for dipping was too sweet. I can't believe they use the word Bagus which means Good in the malay language, I have to say it was TAK BAGUS meaning NOT GOOD 不好吃. For sure I won't be back for a long long time eventhough their food is reasonably cheap.

NYC - Brooklyn - Masu Masu

It was a fun and again belly filled day for me, got invited to a really nice restaurant named Masu Masu in Brooklyn. It was a long commute on the subway, about 1 hr 45 mins from the Bronx to Brooklyn but it sure was worth the trip cos the food was simply delicious. Masu Masu is a sushi asian fusion restaurant, it has the best of both worlds where you can have a taste of Japanese and Malaysian food. We had sashimi, sushi, rolls, steamed fish, deep-fried sweet & sour fish, char kway teow 炒粿條, seafood hor fun 海鲜河粉, coconut pudding and green tea ice-cream, everyone sure enjoyed the meal plus I even got to take home Hainanese chicken rice 海南鸡饭 and that tasted really really good!

NYC - New Malaysia Restaurant ... yes, again .. hee hee

Wah! So shiok to pig out at my favourite New Malaysia Restaurant, ordered the roti canai and nasi lemak. Always good to go to a restaurant where the food is good and serving staff actually knows you, makes one feel at home.

NYC - Chinatown - New Malaysia Restaurant

Entrance from Bowery

Satay! Satay! ... hee hee

My fave take out - Hainanese chicken rice
Since moving to New York 4 years back, I have tried several Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants, so far the best one I have tried is New Malaysia Restaurant. I especially like their hainanese chicken rice, assam curry fish head casserole, nasi lemak, sambal kang kong, sambal okra (lady's finger) and curry stuffed combination noodle soup (yong tau fu). The hubby likes egg and shrimp hor fun very much, that is always his special request.

Their food is not only 'sedap' (taste good) but the staff are very friendly and always makes me feel very welcome.
