NYC - Midtown - Woorijip
Been awhile since I went to Woorijip, so when I walked in last week, I wanted to buy up everything cos the food all looked so good! I end up getting Spicy Tuna Kimbap, Crabmeat Pancake and also Kimchi Fried Rice with Egg & Sausage which I took to work the next day. I know I am such a piggy ... OINK!
I went back again this week, had gotten the Kimchi Fried Rice with Egg & Sausage cos it was really good, some Spicy Rice Cake and Kimbap, all very shiok!

NYC - Midtown - Hing Won Express

Best Beef Brisket Noodle (牛腩面) I have had since moving to NYC, so yummy, so sedap, so shiok! Both dry and soup versions are just as good.
I never get tired of Hing Won’s food, so good that I wanna slap myself silly ... ha!

NYC - Midtown - Toasties

One of my co-workers told me about the breakfast from Toasties, that it was cheap and good so I made my way there, I had a satisfying breakfast platter which consisted eggs, sausages, fried potato and toasts for USD$3.75, not only was it good, it was nice on the pocket too … BURP!

Oh and not forgetting they do have nice meatloaf too ... hee hee!

NYC - Chinatown - Coluck Restaurant
I have bypassed this eatery many times when I go to New Malaysian and Yummy Noodles but have never tried their food till Catie suggested we do since there’s good reviews of them on Yelp and Menupages. The prices are reasonable; apparently they used to be cheaper pre-renovation, it does look brighter and cleaner now after the renovation. Service was fast but don’t expect the wait staffs to be all smiley and friendly, they do what they got to do and that’s it. I did approach one of the waitresses and asked if she is from Malaysia, she finally smiled and said yes then asked when I’m from, I told her ‘Singapore’, after that she was friendly and smiled at us more … hee hee.
They serve both Asian and Western food so I guess you get the both worlds especially when you have a group of friends, they can have either one, or have them all! .. ha! Here’s what we ate:
Catie:
Black Bean Ribs on White Rice
Fried Cruller aka You Tiao
Anne and I shared:
A bowl of Shark’s Fin Soup (came with a buttered toast)
Chinese Pancake with Peking Duck
Pork & Salted Fish Rice Noodles (Mei Fun)
Stewed Oxtail on White Rice
Anne and I spent $12 each (tips included), we only liked the Chinese Pancake with Peking Duck, we felt the other dishes were so-so but we will be back again to try the other dishes and of course have the Chinese Pancake again … heh heh.
It’s a good place to hang out with friends, have drinks, snacks and chit chat away!

NYC - 118 Bagus Malaysia Restaurant

Today I went to check out 118 Bagus Malaysia Restaurant after hearing and reading good reviews about their food, I have to say it was the worse I have tried in NYC so far, the Hainanese chicken rice 海南鸡饭 was tasteless 没有味道, the chilli sauce was too sweet and not spicy 不辣 at all. The roti canai was too chewy like it was not cooked properly and the curry for dipping was too sweet. I can't believe they use the word Bagus which means Good in the malay language, I have to say it was TAK BAGUS meaning NOT GOOD 不好吃. For sure I won't be back for a long long time eventhough their food is reasonably cheap.

NYC - New Malaysia Restaurant ... yes, again .. hee hee

Wah! So shiok to pig out at my favourite New Malaysia Restaurant, ordered the roti canai and nasi lemak. Always good to go to a restaurant where the food is good and serving staff actually knows you, makes one feel at home.

NYC - Chinatown - YUMMY NOODLES

No. 90 - Beef Brisket Lo Mein

No. 49 - Claypot rice with mince meat & preserved cabbage (check out the yummy burnt rice)
Whenever I want some claypot rice and good wonton noodle, I would go to Yummy Noodles at NYC Chinatown. I like the claypot rice very much especially the burnt rice on the bottom, I have to do alot of digging and scrapping to get there but it's worth it ...
Their roast meat and congee are not bad but I would rather go to Hon Wong for that.Thursday, 7 June 2007

NYC - Midtown - Wu Liang Ye - Duck Tongue

Duck tongue, an interesting dish served at Wu Liang Ye Sichuan Restaurant in NYC. When my friends ordered it, I was thinking to myself 'No way am I gonna eat that!' but after some coaxing, I finally gave in. The dish itself was pretty tasty, the duck tongue itself had a fishy after-taste, the texture abit rubbery and had a flat bone in between and no I didn't QUACK after that! Wu Liang Ye
