NYC - Midtown - Deli on Madison

I hardly eat at this deli but occasionally I would drop in to pick up drinks. They have a wide variety of hot food + salad buffet, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc. Counter staff are friendly, polite and they are open 24 hours 7 days a week.

Few days ago, I had gotten to the city early for work so I picked up a Ham & Cheese Croissant (I love Croissant!) Sandwich for breakfast and it tasted really good.

My Cooking - Breakfast Wrap (Eggs & Shredded Cheese)

Been awhile since I made a breakfast wrap for the hubby, since there was no green pepper nor onions, I used only eggs and shredded cheese for the omelette then wrapped it in a tortilla. Added the smiley face with ketchup, that definitely put on a big smile on the hubby's face, he said the egg looked crazy ... hahaha!

My Cooking - Breakfast Wrap

From Bagelfeller Cafe

Recently I tried the Breakfast Wrap from Bagelfeller Cafe, it tasted nasty, so oily and so bland plus when I left the deli, I smelled of food the whole day! Today I decided to make it at home and it was so damn good! Usually the hubby doesn't eat alot, I am the piggy who eats and eats, he actually had 2 big ones today! ... heh heh. I added green pepper, onions, cubes of sausages to the omelette and seasonings of course then wrapped with tortilla, for trial and error, I made one with cheese and the other without for him. He kept saying it was VERY GOOD!

Breakfast cravings for Singapore food

Kaya Roti / Teh Si
Originally uploaded by seraphim1970.

It is 8am in New York and I am craving for a hot cup of teh-si kosong (tea with evaporated milk without sugar) and some toasted butter+kaya (coconut egg jam) roti (bread)!!!! Knowing myself, I would even gobble up some other breakfast goodies e.g kuehs found in the Singapore koti tiams (neighborhood coffeeshop).

More details: Made from eggs, coconut milk, sugar and pandan leaves for that unmistakeable fragrance, Kaya can come green in color if you prefer the pandan flavor and fragrance. It can also come brown in color if you prefer the flavor and fragrance of palm sugar or gula melaka. Kaya is great on toast with tea or coffee. It can be especially tantalizing with a couple of runny eggs.

Singapore - Chwee Kueh 水粿

Springy and moist round soft rice cakes in little cups topped with bits of preserved radish (chai po) fried to perfection with garlic, soy and some herbs. To top it off, it is served with the best tasting chilli sauce with “Hei Bee” (small shrimps) added and fried with the chilli.

Chwee kueh (or chwee kway) (Chinese: 水粿; Pinyin: shuǐ guǒ) is a type of steamed rice cake, a cuisine of Singapore. Chwee kueh in Hokkien literally means "water rice cake".
To make chwee kueh, rice flour and water are mixed together to form a slightly viscous mixture. They are then placed in small cup-shaped containers that look like saucers and steamed, forming a characteristic bowl-like shape when cooked. The rice cakes are topped with diced preserved radish and served with chilli sauce. Chwee kueh is a popular breakfast item in Singapore.
