NYC - West Harlem - Africa Kine

Great company, delicious food, interesting conversations, lots of fun and laughters, what more than a better way to spend my Saturday afternoon with Lyn, Catie, Felice and Reese, all who have bubbly and fun personalities. We ate at Africa Kine Restaurant in West Harlem and the food was really good and tasty. It is a nice place to hang out, the decor is simple with lots of African paintings, it is also quite spacious. The service is slow but what I heard that is normal ... ha! The service staff are very very friendly. Now over to the food, it was my first time eating African cuisine, definitely a nice change. Catie, Felice and myself had the Thiebu djeun which is fish stewed in tomato sauce with eggplant, carrots, cassava & white cabbage, served over exotic rice, that is their tradintional dish and it was delicious. Lyn had the Grilled chicken with seasoned vegetable rice and Reese had Savory lamb with seasoned vegetable rice. The lamb looked really good but since I don't eat lamb/mutton/goat dishes, I will never find out how tasty the dish is .... heh heh. I had the Ginger Beer, a non-alcoholic drink which seems to have a mixture of ginger, water, sugar, water and have a tinge of citrus taste. The pricing is very reasonable and the portions are big. Everyone definitely had a good enjoyable time.
